Synthetic Biology Standards Consortium (SBSC) | NIST

The Synthetic Biology Standards Consortium (SBSC), hosted by NIST, aims to develop metrology infrastructure for the synthetic biology field. This infrastructure will enable coordination of labor and reuse of materials, driving economic growth. The SBSC provides a forum for collaborative identification of technical standards through topical discussions and cross-cutting teams focused on developing identified metrology products. The Consortium’s efforts are essential for establishing a sustainable and efficient global synthetic biology enterprise. The SBSC’s activities began with the NIST-ABMS Workshop to Develop a Metrology Roadmap for Synthetic Biology in 2013 and the kickoff meeting in 2015. However, the SBSC is now inactive.
