Title: NIST Introduces Compact 50mm Orange Cryostat for Neutron Research
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has developed a compact version of its popular 70mm Orange Cryostat, now available as the 50mm model. This smaller cryostat measures 50mm in diameter and features a reduced sample well and tailset, allowing it to fit into most existing instruments. The 50mm cryostat can also be directly bolted onto Huber tables.
Key Features and Capabilities:
– Achieves sample temperatures as low as 1.7K
– No requirement for pumped sample space
– Operates at 1 atmosphere or higher sample space pressure
– Compatible with various special setups, including gas flow measurements, transport measurements, and high pressure applications
Implementation:
– Two 50mm cryostats are currently available at the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR)
– Special setups should be discussed with sample environment staff before scheduling
The introduction of the 50mm Orange Cryostat provides researchers with a compact, versatile option for neutron scattering experiments, expanding the capabilities of NIST’s cryostat offerings.
