Dr. Alex Smolyanitsky is a quantum chemist specializing in the properties of solid-solid and solid-liquid interfaces, as well as the frictional properties of two-dimensional materials. His research focuses on developing nanoscale and biomimetic devices for molecular sensing, separation, and energy storage. Some of his key publications include work on nanopores in 2D materials for nanofluidics, sensing, and energy applications, as well as the development of graphene-embedded crown ethers for ion transport and mechanosensitive ion channels. Dr. Smolyanitsky holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and Arizona State University.
