Barbara L. Goldstein | NIST

Barbara L. Goldstein is a key figure at NIST, serving as Associate Director of the Physical Measurement Laboratory. She leads the “NIST on a Chip” program, which aims to revolutionize precision measurement dissemination by deploying quantum-based standards that can be embedded in products or installed at user sites. Goldstein has a strong international presence, having served as an Embassy Science Fellow in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Finland, and continues to work with quantum communities in the region to foster collaboration. She is also involved in several international standardization efforts, chairing the international IMEKO TC25 on quantum measurement and quantum information, and leading a standardization outlook and maturity assessment subgroup of the UN-based ITU-T Focus Group on Quantum Information Technology for Networks. Prior to her work on quantum standards, Goldstein had a successful career in developing e-commerce standards, leading roadmap efforts for the Internet of Things and factory automation, and implementing information management systems at McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing).
