Elizabeth Koncki, known as Els, is a Physical Scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the Office of Weights and Measures (OWM). She works to ensure the traceability of measurement standards to the International System of Units (SI) and provides technical assistance to state legal metrology laboratories.
Els serves as the liaison between NIST and state metrology labs, helping them maintain high technical standards. She also coordinates safety tasks and training programs within OWM. Prior to joining NIST, Els had a long career in state government, working with the Maryland Weights and Measures program from 2009 to 2021 where she managed field and lab programs, staff training, and user community engagement.
