NIST has identified a new superconductor that could revolutionize quantum computing. Previously called the “boring vegetable,” this material has unique properties that make it ideal for quantum computing applications, potentially becoming the “silicon of quantum computers.”
3. Quantum Encryption Challenges:
Quantum computers pose a significant threat to current encryption methods used for email and online banking, as they can solve large prime number factoring problems much more efficiently than classical computers. In response, NIST has initiated a competition to find new quantum-resistant algorithms that can protect data in the quantum computing era.
