Fifty employees of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) were awarded the Departmental Bronze Medal on December 5, 2007, for their outstanding contributions to various scientific and technical fields. The awards, presented by NIST leadership, recognized achievements in areas such as nanomaterials, semiconductor technology, neutron scattering, chemical analysis, and IT systems. Recipients were honored for their work in developing new measurement standards, improving efficiency in semiconductor manufacturing, and advancing technologies like biometric systems and macromolecular mass spectrometry.
The awards also highlighted contributions to the development of online resources, the revitalization of calibration services, and the creation of new methods for measuring mechanical properties at the nanoscale.
