The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking proposals for its Precision Measurement Grant Program (PMGP), which supports fundamental measurement research. The program has been providing funding for such research since 1970 and has previously supported four Nobel laureates.
NIST anticipates funding up to two projects for up to three years, with each project receiving $50,000 per year. The deadline for submitting abbreviated proposals is February 12, 2013, and full proposals are due by May 7, 2013. Proposals will be evaluated based on the importance of the research, its relationship to NIST’s ongoing work, feasibility, potential impact, and the proposer’s qualifications.
The program aims to encourage basic measurement-related research in universities, colleges, and other research laboratories, while fostering contacts between NIST scientists and other researchers.
