NIST Researchers Demonstrate Quantum Entanglement with Distant, Synchronized Network Nodes | NIST

NIST researchers have successfully demonstrated quantum entanglement between two distant, synchronized quantum network nodes. The breakthrough involved entangling two photons at a third node, a much more challenging task than in a lab setting. The two nodes were synchronized using the White Rabbit time transfer system, which achieved synchronization within four picoseconds and enabled photon entanglement with greater than 90% probability. The experiments also showed that quantum and White Rabbit signals can coexist on the same fiber, opening up new possibilities for quantum communications and cryptography.
