NIST and University at Albany’s CNSE Partner on Nanoscale Measurement and Standards
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) at the University at Albany-State University of New York. This collaboration aims to establish policies and procedures for working together in areas of common interest, including nanoscale measurement and nanomanufacturing standards development.
The partnership follows the creation of the New York Center for National Competitiveness in Nanoscale Characterization (NC3) at CNSE. By advancing innovations in nanoscale measurement science, NC3 seeks to strengthen the relationships between nanotechnology R&D, manufacturing, and commercialization.
Key points:
– NIST’s Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) will lead scientific efforts with CNSE
– Collaboration leverages CNSE’s world-class staff, facilities, and industry partnerships
– Partnership is essential for developing state-of-the-art nanoscale measurement tools and standards
– Goals include creating ever-smaller computer chips that perform tasks more quickly while reducing power consumption in electronic devices
