NIST to Revise SP 800-132, Recommendation for Password-Based Key Derivation – Part 1: Storage Applications | NIST

NIST is revising its SP 800-132 standard, which provides guidelines for securely generating cryptographic keys from passwords. The revision process was initiated in January 2023 and a draft was proposed in March 2023. The revision will follow the standard process of public comment, but draft preparation has not yet begun.
