The White House released a new report on quantum information science challenges and opportunities, outlining a path forward for high-performance computing. The report, produced by an interagency working group, assesses the current state of quantum information science and identifies ways to address obstacles and facilitate progress.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has been a leader in quantum information science for over 20 years, with research achievements in quantum-based sensors and measurement. NIST’s work is part of the National Strategic Computing Initiative and is conducted through collaborations like the Joint Quantum Institute (JQI) and Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science (QuICS) at the University of Maryland, College Park.
