Team from Two Labs Receives NIST Astin Measurement Science Award | NIST

A team from NIST’s two laboratories has received the 1999 Allen V. Astin Measurement Science Award for implementing SIMnet, an international network that facilitates trade between North and South American countries. The network allows NIST and 10 other national measurement labs to participate remotely in measurement comparison trials, exchange data, and promote standards equivalency across the Americas. This reduces the time and cost of the process, lowering trade barriers and facilitating the flow of goods and services.

NIST strengthens the U.S. economy and improves quality of life through four key partnerships:
1. Manufacturing Extension Partnership
2. Measurement and Standards Laboratories
3. Advanced Technology Program
4. Baldrige National Quality Program
