The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the CHIPS Research and Development Office are seeking public input on their draft publication, “Building a Metrology Exchange to Innovate in Semiconductors” (METIS). This publication outlines the vision for a data exchange ecosystem that will provide stakeholders with access to the results of federally funded semiconductor research under the CHIPS Metrology Program.
The METIS data exchange ecosystem aims to make NIST’s research results available in a way that protects intellectual property, safeguards U.S. security interests, aligns with NIST’s approach to research result access, and is self-sustaining to meet future needs. By designing the data ecosystem around and for research that meets the needs of the public, industry, and the scientific community, METIS will shepherd the research process from the start and provide security and controls to enable the final products to reach their intended recipients.
NIST is seeking comments on the draft METIS publication by January 31, 2024, using the provided comment template. For more information, visit the METIS project page.
