Job Opportunity: Research Associate Position, Boulder Cryogenic Quantum Testbed | NIST

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Boulder, Colorado is seeking a full-time research associate to work on their Boulder Cryogenic Quantum Testbed project. The position involves experimental work on superconducting quantum computing, focusing on improving the accuracy, precision, and reproducibility of performance measurements of superconducting microwave resonators at ultralow powers and millikelvin temperatures.

The research associate will support the development of methods to improve the accuracy, precision, and reproducibility of performance measurements of superconducting microwave resonators at ultralow powers and millikelvin temperatures. The research associate will guide the bring-up of a new high-throughput cryogenic microwave measurement system for superconducting microwave resonator dielectric loss, including wiring installation and completing automation of device identification, parameter sweeps, and iterative data analysis. The research associate will work closely with collaborators to support materials investigations on NbN and the identification of lossy defects.

The work location for this position is at the NIST campus in Boulder, Colorado and also at the Boulder Cryogenic Quantum Testbed on the campus of University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. The research associate will also be encouraged to travel to present results at scientific conferences and to off-site experiments where NIST-built instruments are employed.
