Draft White Paper on “Getting Ready for Post-Quantum Cryptography” is Available for Comment | NIST

NIST has released a draft white paper titled “Getting Ready for Post-Quantum Cryptography” for public comment. The paper discusses challenges organizations may face when transitioning from current public-key cryptographic algorithms to quantum-resistant alternatives.

The National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) is developing practices to facilitate this migration. The white paper outlines key considerations for organizations planning to adopt post-quantum cryptographic algorithms.

NIST plans to provide updated guidance and best practices for implementing these new algorithms, as well as continuing to work with industry and academia to develop and test new quantum-resistant algorithms.

The public comment period for the draft white paper ends on June 30, 2020. More information is available on the NCCoE’s applied crypto agility project homepage.
