Request for Public Comments on Stateful Hash-Based Signatures (HBS) | NIST

NIST is seeking public comments on its plans to standardize two stateful hash-based signature (HBS) schemes, XMSS and LMS. These schemes are vulnerable to misuse if private keys are reused, potentially compromising security. NIST plans to approve both schemes but is seeking input on how to best implement them securely, particularly in limited applications like code signing. The deadline for public comments is April 1, 2019.
