The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is hosting a workshop on April 2-3, 2015 to discuss the future of cybersecurity in a post-quantum world. As quantum computers become more powerful, they will be able to break most current encryption methods, so new quantum-resistant algorithms need to be developed.
The workshop will cover various post-quantum cryptographic techniques, including multivariate and code-based systems, hash-based signatures, and lattice-based cryptography. Experts from academia, industry, and government will discuss the challenges and potential solutions for securing communications in a quantum future.
Keynote speakers will address the need for quantum-safe cryptography and the progress being made in developing these new algorithms. The workshop aims to bring together stakeholders to develop a strategy for standardizing post-quantum cryptographic methods before they are needed to protect sensitive information from quantum attacks.
