The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking public input on two programs aimed at restoring American leadership in semiconductor manufacturing. These programs, authorized by the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) for America Act, include financial incentives for domestic semiconductor manufacturing investment and the establishment of new Manufacturing USA institutes for advanced research and education.
NIST is requesting public feedback through two Requests for Information (RFIs) with submission deadlines of November 14 and November 28, 2022. The input received will help shape the development of effective domestic semiconductor manufacturing programs. Stakeholders are encouraged to provide their comments, which will be posted on the NIST website. For more information on submitting comments, refer to the Federal Register and/or the NIST website.
