Title: NIST Postdoctoral Researcher AJ Rasmusson’s Work on Trapped-Ion Quantum Hardware

Summary:
AJ Rasmusson, a National Research Council (NRC) postdoctoral researcher at NIST, is working on developing the next generation of trapped-ion quantum hardware systems. Rasmusson received his Ph.D. in Physics from Indiana University in 2024, where he studied 2D trapped-ion crystals, trapped-ion thermometry and heating, and the simulation of quantum chemical effects using trapped ions. He previously served as the principal lead for IBM’s Open Science challenge from 2021 to 2023 and currently sits on the Unitary Fund’s Open Quantum Benchmark Committee.
