James A. St. Pierre is the Deputy Director of the Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) at NIST, overseeing a research program focused on developing standards, measurements, and testing for information systems. ITL supports NIST’s mission by promoting U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness through cybersecurity standards, guidelines, and research in computer science, mathematics, and statistics.
St. Pierre holds a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University. Prior to joining NIST in 1994, he worked at Loral Space Systems and IBM, focusing on semiconductor design and development for Los Angeles-class submarines. He has published extensively and given numerous presentations on technical and management topics.
