2019 Van Duzer Prize | NIST

The 2019 Van Duzer Prize was awarded to a paper titled “1 GHz Waveform Synthesis with Josephson Junction Arrays” published in IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity. The paper demonstrated the ability to generate 1 GHz waveforms using arrays of Josephson junctions, a key technology for quantum computing and other applications.

The research was funded by a 2015 NIST Innovations in Measurement Science (IMS) award, led by NIST’s Quantum Electromagnetics division and involving collaborators from the RF Technology division. The first author, C. A. Donnelly, also received a NIST Graduate Student Measurement Science and Engineering fellowship to support their work.
