NIST Physicist Wins OSA’s First Walther Award | NIST

NIST physicist David Wineland has been selected as the first recipient of the Herbert Walther Award, an international honor recognizing his groundbreaking work in quantum information physics and metrology. The award, presented jointly by the Optical Society of America (OSA) and the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG), will be given to Wineland by the OSA in June 2009 at a meeting in Germany.
