Dr. Maynard S. Dewey is a staff physicist at NIST with over 30 years of experience in precise measurements of neutron decay parameters. His work focuses on probing the Standard Model through measurements of neutron beta decay, including precise measurements of thermal and cold neutron fluences to reduce uncertainty in neutron lifetime measurements. He has also worked on measuring important neutron capture cross sections and re-calibrating the national neutron source NBS-1. Dr. Dewey has been a member of the Neutron Physics group since 1990 and has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications. He received a NIST Bronze Medal in 2020 and was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2017.
