Title: NIST Launches Project to Automate Cryptographic Module Validation Program
The National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) has initiated a project to automate the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP). This initiative aims to streamline the validation process for cryptographic modules, which are essential components in securing data and communications.
Current CMVP processes involve manual testing and validation, which can be time-consuming and incompatible with industry requirements. By automating these processes, the NCCoE hopes to improve efficiency and make the validation process more accessible to organizations.
The project will demonstrate automated testing tools, processes, and communication methods for validating cryptographic modules. It will also result in practice descriptions, playbooks, and implementation demonstrations to help organizations improve their cryptographic validation capabilities.
The public comment period for this project is open until May 12, 2021. Interested parties can join the Community of Interest by sending an email to applied-crypto-visibility@nist.gov.
