The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recently hosted a Roadmapping Workshop for Measurement Science, Prognostics, and Health Management (PHM) in smart manufacturing systems. The workshop aimed to identify desired capabilities, challenges, and barriers for achieving effective PHM in this field.
The two-day event featured panel discussions, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities. Key topics included performance assessment, monitoring and measurement, and the human element in PHM. Participants engaged in discussions about prioritizing challenges, pathways for the measurement science roadmap, and the future direction of PHM.
The workshop concluded with a plenary session and an optional briefing on NIST’s Robotic Systems for Smart Manufacturing Program. The event provided a platform for experts to collaborate and develop strategies for advancing PHM in smart manufacturing systems.
