Title: NIST’s FCSC Working Group 2 Advances Flow Cytometry Standardization

NIST’s Working Group 2 (WG2) is making significant progress in developing standards and best practices for flow cytometry assays. The group has completed an interlaboratory study (WG2-ILS1) involving 17 Consortium member organizations across 21 sites and 42 different instrument platforms.

The main goal of WG2-ILS1 is to standardize a T-/B-/monocyte/NK-cell (TBMNK) assay for cell count and cell health. This involves designing and conducting interlaboratory studies to achieve flow cytometry assay standardization and generating high-quality reference datasets.

Key outcomes of the study include a curated collection of thousands of .FCS files recorded using common materials and standardized methods. This will help improve the accuracy and reliability of flow cytometry assays across different laboratories and instrument platforms.
