The Technology Partnerships Office (TPO) at NIST aims to commercialize federally funded research and development by accelerating the transfer of new technologies from the laboratory to the commercial market. The TPO’s Technology Maturation Accelerator Program (TMAP) provides NIST scientists and engineers a platform to pitch their top projects to venture capitalists and business experts, assessing their commercial viability and potential to attract investment.
In the past two years, TMAP has showcased a wide range of innovative projects from various NIST laboratories, including cybersecurity, quantum computing, next-generation microscopes, and protein sequencing devices. These innovations address major scientific challenges of the 21st century, offering opportunities to accelerate ideas to market and advance American science on a global scale.
