The article discusses a final report comparing future realizations of the kilogram standard. The study, completed in late 2016, aimed to determine how an object’s mass changes when exposed to air compared to a vacuum. The report concluded that the world’s measurements of the Planck constant agreed closely, leading the CGPM to invite a CODATA Task Group to perform a special least-squares adjustment of fundamental constants to establish values for the revised SI, including the kilogram definition.
