NIST Announces 14 Candidates to Advance to the Second Round of the Additional Digital Signatures for the Post-Quantum Cryptography Standardization Process | NIST

NIST has selected 14 post-quantum digital signature algorithms to advance to the second round of its standardization process. The algorithms are based on structured lattices and hash functions, which are believed to be resistant to quantum computer attacks. The second round of evaluation is expected to take 12-18 months, during which the candidates may submit updated specifications and implementations. NIST is also planning a 6th PQC Standardization Conference for September 2025.
