Global partnerships

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is collaborating with ISO and ITU through the World Standards Cooperation to create unified global rules for emerging technologies. A key joint committee, ISO/IEC JTC 3, is currently developing standards specifically for quantum computing, simulation, and related hardware like detectors and communication systems. This partnership aims to establish consistent guidelines while preventing different groups from duplicating efforts.

To ensure these standards are practical, the IEC allows qualified international organizations to participate as liaisons. These partners provide technical expertise and help shape the rules, with their involvement reviewed every two years. The initiative is ongoing, with the goal of establishing a reliable foundation that will support the future growth and deployment of quantum technologies worldwide.
