SNS JU and ESA Join Forces to Accelerate the Integration of Satellite Networks in 6G – SNS JU

The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) and the European Space Agency (ESA) have signed a Memorandum of Intent to accelerate the integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks for 6G development in Europe. This strategic partnership will facilitate large-scale trials of TN/NTN connectivity for critical sectors like mobility and agriculture while granting SNS JU projects access to ESA’s advanced ground and in-orbit laboratories for real-world validation. By combining SNS JU’s network expertise with ESA’s space infrastructure, the collaboration aims to generate performance benchmarks, foster knowledge exchange, and develop natively integrated 6G applications. Ultimately, this initiative seeks to secure European technological sovereignty and ensure ubiquitous, resilient connectivity for citizens and industries across the continent.
