ETSI is leveraging its established cybersecurity expertise to lead European-driven international collaborations on quantum security through two dedicated technical groups: the Quantum Safe Cryptography Working Group and the Industry Specification Group on Quantum Key Distribution. The cryptography group is developing hybrid key exchange standards and migration strategies for critical infrastructure like ITS, while the QKD group is creating common interfaces and protection profiles to standardize quantum communication components. By aligning with EuroQCI and fostering a global network of over 100 partnerships, ETSI aims to deliver interoperable digital standards that ensure long-term resilience against future quantum threats. These efforts position Europe to establish a secure, resilient quantum ecosystem through robust, market-ready specifications.
