ETSI Protection Profile for securing smartphones gains world-first certification from French Cybersecurity Agency – ETSI

ETSI has revised its Protection Profile for Consumer Mobile Devices to address growing cybersecurity threats and privacy risks facing smartphones and tablets. The updated multi-part specification now includes requirements for biometric authentication and defines a unified evaluation configuration to allow products to be assessed as a whole. Developed with input from major OS developers, manufacturers, and regulators, the standard supports security certification initiatives like the European Cyber Resilience Act. France’s national cybersecurity authority, ANSSI, has officially certified this profile, validating its effectiveness against malware and network eavesdropping.
