The European Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) hosted a high-level session at MWC25 featuring over 30 funded projects that showcase advancements in 6G, AI, and converged computing networks. Keynote speakers from the European Commission and the 6G Industry Association emphasized the need for regulatory simplification and technology sovereignty to support a €1.8 billion investment in next-generation infrastructure. Panel discussions highlighted the integration of 5G and 6G with cloud services to enable AI-driven use cases in sectors like automotive, aerospace, and smart ports, while stressing the importance of open-source solutions and reduced hardware dependencies. Demonstrations from projects such as 6G SANDBOX and 6G-REFERENCE illustrated practical applications including digital twins, AI-enabled sensing, and non-terrestrial networks to enhance network efficiency and security. Ultimately, the session reinforced the SNS JU’s role in uniting stakeholders to standardize 6G technologies and secure Europe’s competitive edge in the global digital landscape.
