ETSI’s workshop in Athens highlighted how Information and Communication Technologies can reduce emissions and energy consumption across other industries while establishing standards to minimize ICT’s own environmental footprint. The event brought together industry and government experts to review ongoing work by the Environmental Engineering Technical Committee and various Industry Specification Groups focused on networks, data centers, and in-home devices. Technical discussions identified research methodologies for energy efficiency and explored opportunities to harmonize standardization efforts across the sector. This initiative was hosted by GRNET and supported by the European Commission’s ECONET project to advance sustainable ICT solutions.
