ETSI workshop confirms need to accelerate on Quantum-Safe Cryptography standards – ETSI

A recent workshop in Sophia Antipolis highlighted urgent advances in large-scale quantum computing, prompting a critical need for quantum-safe cryptography to protect future infrastructure against both quantum and traditional attacks. The event underscored the NSA’s recent transition to quantum-resistant algorithms and detailed the role of ETSI’s newly established Quantum-Safe Cryptography Industry Specification Group in developing standards for post-quantum and quantum key distribution solutions. Industry and government stakeholders were advised to integrate quantum risk management into cybersecurity roadmaps and demand vendor support for quantum-safe options to ensure a secure transition. This collaborative effort aims to establish a robust quantum-safe infrastructure by addressing specific technical challenges and fostering global standards development.
