ETSI and OpenFog Consortium collaborate on fog and edge applications – ETSI

ETSI and the OpenFog Consortium have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on developing global standards for fog-enabled mobile edge applications, aiming to reduce technical overlap in 5G and mission-critical deployments. The partnership focuses on aligning the ETSI Multi-access Edge Computing specifications with the OpenFog Reference Architecture to create a cohesive, interoperable environment across cloud-to-thing networks. A primary initiative involves adapting MEC APIs to support edge computing interoperability, allowing developers to write unified software modules that function across both architectures. This joint effort seeks to establish a common, open framework that simplifies management strategies and accelerates the adoption of intelligent edge solutions for operators and application providers.
