ETSI Licensed Shared Access specifications for a trial in Portugal to support 5G deployment – ETSI

ANACOM successfully finalized an official Licensed Shared Access (LSA) trial in Portugal’s 2.3–2.4GHz band based on ETSI specifications TS 103 235, TS 103 154, and TS 103 379 developed by the Technical Committee Reconfigurable Radio Systems. The pilot project established a technological demonstrator to validate the LSA model, which enables controlled frequency sharing with incumbent users like journalists and telemetry operators in exchange for compensation. This initiative, supported by collaboration between CEPT, ETSI, and the European Commission, aims to increase spectrum utilization and alleviate scarcity in lower bands below 6 GHz for mobile carriers.
