Highlights of the Cybersecurity Standardization Conference – ETSI

The conference focused on aligning standardization efforts with the EU Radio Equipment Directive and the Cybersecurity Act, emphasizing the need for effective certification frameworks. Key discussions covered cybersecurity requirements for consumer IoT, the development of sector-specific standards for smart homes and automotive systems, and the emerging certification scheme for 5G networks. Participants highlighted gaps in current standardization activities and stressed the importance of coordinating with ENISA and standardization bodies to meet EU policy goals. The event concluded with a strong call for a follow-up discussion in early 2022 to address how these activities can best support the Union’s rolling work programme.
