ETSI launches new Industry Specification Group on blockchain – ETSI

ETSI has launched a new Industry Specification Group on Permissioned Distributed Ledger (ISG PDL) to develop standards for operating private blockchains across various industries and government institutions. The group aims to address business-oriented use cases such as digital identity, object tracking, and service level agreement verification, distinguishing them from public ledgers like Bitcoin. Founding members include major telecommunications and technology firms such as Ericsson, Huawei, Intel, Telefónica, and Vodafone. The group will focus on defining functional architectures, interfaces, APIs, and data models, with its first kick-off meeting scheduled for January 24, 2019, in Madrid.
