The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) has launched its seventh call for proposals, focusing on Front End Module (FEM) microelectronics with €14 million in EU funding to secure Europe’s 6G hardware sovereignty. This initiative aims to reduce dependency on non-European semiconductors by fostering collaboration between telecom and microelectronics actors to align development timelines with project needs. Successful projects will deliver reconfigurable, multi-frequency 6G front ends that integrate digital, RF, and advanced packaging technologies while supporting the EU Chips Act and Apply AI strategy. The call opens on May 26, 2026, with a submission deadline of September 3, 2026, and includes an info day and brokerage event to facilitate partner finding.
