The NetworldEurope Working Group on Enabling Technologies for Vertical Ecosystem Transformation expands collaboration beyond research and SME groups to address long-term roadmaps and disruptive business models for key vertical sectors including smart manufacturing, automotive, healthcare, and energy. The group adopts a horizontal view to federate multiple verticals for new services, focusing on technology aspects like architecture integration and economic shifts in the telco ecosystem rather than immediate prototypes. Led by Prof. Maziar Nekovee and Dr. Xulei An, the initiative has established two task forces to address techno-economics and enabling technologies, culminating in a November 2023 whitepaper titled “Technologies & Standards to Enable Vertical Ecosystem Transformation in 6G.” This work aims to define future requirements and interfaces that support evolution beyond 5G and 6G across global digital ecosystems.
