The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) has launched its 2025 Calls for Proposals, allocating €104 million for Stream B and C to advance Beyond 5G and 6G technologies, while dedicating €24 million to Stream D for advanced 5G/6G trials in key vertical sectors. Concurrently, the Chips JU is organizing a September workshop to define R&I priorities for 6G Front End Modules, aiming to align microelectronics development with the SNS program for the 2026 work cycle. These initiatives are supported by the updated Technical Annex to the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) 2022-2027, which establishes R&D priorities across engineering disciplines. Furthermore, the European Commission’s draft Multi-annual Financial Framework for 2028-2034 proposes a €2 trillion investment agenda that includes €54.8 billion specifically for digital leadership in chips, clouds, and AI factories.
