The Datacom Industry Association (DIA) launched its first major gathering in Munich, convening researchers and industry leaders to address grand challenges through advanced communication systems. Key technical discussions covered the integration of AI in networking, inclusive healthcare solutions, and the digital transformation of European railways with a focus on cybersecurity. The event also highlighted the role of satellite and non-terrestrial networks in connecting underserved regions while establishing three dedicated working groups for systems, railway, and aerospace sectors. To foster innovation, the DIA introduced an Open Challenge Fund and matchmaking initiative to connect specific industry problems with technical solutions. This gathering established a unified European voice aimed at driving the continent’s digital transformation through collaborative research and infrastructure development.
