This TARGET-X webinar explores the use of 5G as a communication standard for construction machines to perform automated deconstruction activities, supporting a transition toward a circular economy. The presentation details a prototypical system that integrates Extended Reality (XR) technology to enable real-time information visualization and adaptive task planning for controlled demolition. By implementing this setup on a trial site under real-life conditions, the project aims to improve material recovery, reduce waste, and establish smarter construction practices. Speakers Victoria Jung and Chu Han Wu from RWTH Aachen University will discuss the implementation status and technical architecture of this automated deconstruction workflow.
