The workshop organized by 6G4Society and FIDAL highlighted that while Key Value Indicators (KVIs) are hoped to align 6G innovation with societal needs like ethics and public acceptance, projects face significant challenges in quantifying and measuring these indicators within their lifetimes. Participants expressed fears that the lack of concrete guidance and the difficulty in mapping KVIs to technical KPIs could lead to green-washing, alongside concerns about the feasibility of measuring non-technical values at lower technology readiness levels. To address these gaps, the community identified a critical need for clearer definitions of societal values, better methods to engage external stakeholders, and practical frameworks that bridge the gap between theoretical goals and tangible project outcomes. Future actions will focus on developing an action plan to establish good practices for demonstrating impact and providing the necessary expertise to make KVIs more tangible for technology developers.
