News – SNS JU

The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) has launched its seventh call for proposals in 2026, allocating €116 million to fund 20 new projects focused on microelectronics, 6G research, and sustainable connectivity. This funding supports a diverse portfolio including the 6G-VERSUS vertical trials for sustainability, the 6G-TWIN network digital twin initiative, and the 6GARROW project for energy-aware AI-native networks. Key strategic partnerships with the European Space Agency (ESA) are accelerating the integration of non-terrestrial networks, while standardization efforts in IEEE 802.11bp and 3GPP Release 19/20 continue to define the technical framework for ambient-enabled communication. These initiatives collectively aim to advance Europe’s leadership in 6G technology through rigorous experimentation, industrial deployment, and the development of resilient, green infrastructure.
