The SNS Joint Undertaking is advancing Europe’s digital future through 79 active projects funded by €500 million in EU support, with a new €130 million call launching in 2025 to accelerate 6G research and standardization. Flagship initiatives like Hexa-X-II are driving innovation in AI-native networks, optical systems, and terahertz communications while embedding core values of sustainability, cybersecurity, and inclusion into project designs. Over 100 SMEs from 27 countries are participating in these efforts, which include 28 international MoUs and more than 180 trials to ensure global competitiveness and replicability. As the sector moves toward 6G standardization, the program focuses on energy-efficient networks and zero-trust architectures to secure Europe’s leadership in the next generation of connectivity.
