3GPP Commits to Develop 6G Specifications – ETSI

3GPP has officially announced its plan to develop the next generation of global mobile communication specifications for 6G, building on its successful track record from 3G through 5G. While the organization is currently finalizing Release 18 and preparing for Release 19 of 5G-Advanced, it is initiating early planning for 6G to ensure a multi-year development timeline is met. The seven organizational partners, including ARIB, ATIS, and ETSI, reaffirm their commitment to a consensus-based process that will deliver harmonized technical specifications for future network architectures. This strategic move aims to address emerging use cases and sustain the global standardization framework that billions of users rely upon.
